ORIGIN: Great Britain.

DATE OF PUBLICATION OF THE ORIGINAL VALID STANDART: 24.06.1987.

UTILIZATION: Pointing dog.

CLASSIFICATION F.C.I.: Group 7 Pointing Dogs.
Section 2.2 British and Irish Pointers and Setters, Setter.
With working trial.

GENERAL APPERANCE: Of medium height, clean in outline, elegant in apperance and movement.

BEHAVIOUR / TEMPERAMENT: very active with a keen game sense. Intensely and good natured.

HEAD: carried high; long and reasonably lean.
CRANIAL REGION:
Skull: Oval from ear to ear, showing plenty of brain room; occipital protuberance well-defined.
Stop: Well defined.
FACIAL REGION:
Nose: Colour of nose black or liver, according to colour of coat. Nostrils wide.
Muzzle: Moderately deep and fairly square, from stop to point of nose should be equal to length of skull from occiput to eyes.
Lips: Not too pendulous.
Jaws/Teeth: Jaws strong and of nearly equal length, with a perfect, regular and complete scissor bite, i.e. upper teeth closely overlapping the lower teeth and set square to the jaws. Full dentition desirable.
Eyes: Bright, mild and expressive. Colour ranging between hazel and dark brown, the darker the better. In liver beltons only, a lighter eye accetable. Eyes oval and not protruding.
Ears: Moderate length, set on low, and hanging in neat folds close to cheek, tip velvety, upper part clothed in fine silky hair.

NECK: Rather long, muscular and lean, slightly arched at crest, and clean cut where it joins head, towards shoulder larger and very muscular, never throaty nor pendulous below throat, but elegant in apperance.

BODY: Moderate length.
Back: Short and level.
Loin: Wide, slightly arched, strong and muscular.
Chest: Deep in brisket, very good depth and width between shoulder blades. Ribs good round, widely sprung and deep in back ribs, i.e. well ribbed up.

TAIL: Set almost in line with back, medium lenght, not reaching below hock, neither curly nor ropy, slightly curved or scimitar-shaped but with no tendency to turn upwards : flag or feathers hanging in long pendant flakes. Feather commencing slightly below the root, and increasing in length towards middle, then gradually tapering towards end; hair long, bright, soft and silky, wavy but not curly. lively and slashing im movement and carried in a plane not higher than level of back.

LIMBS
FOREQUARTERS:
Shoulders: Well set back or oblique.
Elbows: Well let down close to body.
Forearms: straight and very muscular with rounded bone.
Pastern: Short, strong, round and straight.
HINDQUARTERS: Legs well muscled including second thigh. Long from hip to hock.
Thighs: Long.
Stifles: Well bent.
Hock: Inclining neither in nor out and well let down.
FEET: Well padded, tight, with close well arched toes protected by hair between them.

GAIT / MOVEMENT: Free and graceful action, suggesting speed and endurance. Free movement of the hock showing powerful drive from hindquarters. Viewed from rear, hip, stifle and hock joints in line. Head naturally high.

COAT

HAIR: From back of head in line with ears slightly wavy, not curly, long and silky, as is coat generally, breeches and forelegs nearly down to feet well feathered.
COLOUR: Black and white (blue belton), orange and white (orange belton), lemon and white (lemon belton), liver and white (liver belton) or tricolour, that is blue belton and tan or liver belton and tan, those without heavy patches of colour on body but flecked ( belton) all over preffered.

SIZE:
Dogs: 65-68 cm (25,5-27 ins). Bitches: 61-65 cm (24-25,5 ins).

NOTE OF THE STANDART COMMITTEE: "Belton" is the customary term used for the description of the distinctive coat-ticking of the English Setter. belton is a village in Northumberland. This expression has been created and spread out by the book about the English Setter written by Mr. Edward Lavarack, breeder who has had a preponderating influence upon the actual apperance of the breed.

FAULTS: Any departure from the foregoing points should be cosidered a fault and the seriousness with which the fault should be regarded should be in exact proportion to its degree and its effect upon the health and welfare of the dog.

Any dog clearly showing physical or behavioural abnormalities shall be disqualified.

N.B.: Male animals should have two apparently normal testicles fully descended into the scrotum.

SPORTING GROUP

GENERAL APPEARANCE
An elegant, substanial and symmetrical gun dog suggesting the ideal blend of strngth, stamina, grace, and style. Flat-coated with feathering of good length. gaiting freely and smoothly with long forward reach, strong rear drive and firm topline. males decidedly masculine without coarseness. females decidedly feminine without over-refinement. Overall apperance, balance, gait and purpose to be given more emphasis than any component part. Above all, extremes of anything distort type and must be faulted.

HEAD
Size and proportion in harmony with body. Long and lean with a well defined stop. When viewed from the side, head planes (top of muzzle, top of skull and bottom of lower jaw) are parallel. Skull - oval when viewed from above, of medium width, without coarseness, and only slightly wider at the earset than at the brow. Moderately defined occipital protuberance. Length of skull from occiput to stop equal in length of muzzle. Muzzle - long and square when viewed from the side, of good depth with flews squared and fairly pendant. Width in harmony with width of skull and equal at nose and stop. level from eyes to tip of nose. Nose - black or dark brown, fully pigmented. Nostrils wide apart and large. Foreface - skeletal structure under the eyes well chiseled with no suggestion of fullness. Cheeks present a smooth and clean-cut apperance. Teeth - close scissors bite preferred. Even bite accetable. Eyes - dark brown, the darker the better. Bright, and spaced to give a mild and intelligent expression. Nearly round, fairly large, neither deepset nor protruding. Eyelid rims dark and fully pigmented. Lids fit tightly so that haw is not exposed. Ears - set well back and low, even with or below eye level. When relaxed carried close to the head. Of moderate length, slightly rounded at the ends, moderately thin leather, and covered with silky hair.

NECK AND BODY
Neck - long and graceful, muscular and lean. Arched at the crest and cleancut where it joins the head at the base of the skull. Larger and more muscular toward the shoulders, with the base of the neck flowing smoothly into the shoulders. Not too throaty. Topline - in motion or standing appears level or sloping slightly downward without sway or drop from withers to tail forming a graceful outline of medium length. Forechest - well developed, point of sternum projecting slightly in front of point of shoulder/upper arm joint. Chest - deep, but not so wide or round as to interfere with the action of the forelegs. Brisket deep enough to reach the level of the elbow. Ribs - long, springing gradually to the middle of the body, then tapering as they approach the end of the chest cavity. Back - straight and strong at its junction with loin. Loin - strong, moderate in length, slightly arched. Tuck up moderate. Hips - croup nearly flat. Hip bones wide apart, hips rounded and blending smoothly into hind legs. Tail - a smooth continuation of the topline. Tapering to a fine point with only sufficient length to reach the hock joint or slightly less. Carried straight and level with the back. Feathering straight and silky, hanging loosely in a fringe.

FOREQUARTERS
Shoulder - shoulder blade well laid back. Upper arm equal in length to and forming a nearly right angle with the shoulder blade. shoulders fairly close together at the tips. Shoulder blades lie flat and meld smoothly with contours of body. Forelegs - from front or side, forelegs straight and parallel. elbows have tendency to turn in or out when standing or gaiting. Arm flat and muscular. Bone substanial but not coarse and muscles hard and devoid of flabbiness. Pasterns - short, strong and nearly round with the slope deviating very slightly forward from the perpendicular. Feet - face directly forward. Toes closely set, strong and well arched. Pads well developed and tough. Dewclaws may be removed.

HINDQUARTERS Wide, muscular thighs and well developed lower thighs. Pelvis equal in length to and forming a nearly right angle with upper thigh. In balance with forequarter assembly. Stifle well bent and strong. Lower thigh only slightly longer than upper thigh. Hock joint well bent and strong. Rear pastern short, strong, nearly round and perpendicular to the ground. Hind legs, when seen from the rear, straight and parallel to each other. Hock joints have no tendency to turn in or out when standing or gaiting.

COAT
Flat without curl or wooliness. Feathering on ears, chest, abdomen, underside of thighs, back of all legs and on the tail of good length but not so excessive as to hide true lines and move mentor to affect the dog's apperance or function as a sporting dog.

MARKINGS AND COLOR
Markings - white ground color with intermingling of darker hairs resulting in belton markings varying in degree from clear distinct flecking to roan shadding, but flecked all over preferred. head and ear patches accetable, heavy patches of color on the body undesirable. Color - orange belton, blue belton (white with black markings), tricolor (blue belton with tan on muzzle, over the eyes and on the legs), lemon belton, liver belton.

MOVEMENT AND CARRIAGE
An effortless graceful movement demonstrating endurance while covering ground efficiently. Long forward reach and strong rear drive with a lively tail and a proud head carriage. Head may be carried slightly lower when moving to allow for greater reach of forelegs. The back strong, firm, and free ot roll. When moving at a trot, as speed increases, the legs tend to converge toward a line representing the center of gravity.

SIZE
Dogs about 25 inches; bitches about 24 inches.

TEMPERAMENT
Gentle, affectionate, friendly, without shyness, fear or viciousness.

Angļi ir otrā vietā aiz gordoniem manā sarakstā. :D

Vislabāk patīk tāda krāsojuma angļi, kā Cedriks tēmas augšpusē. :)
Cik, saprotu, tas ir Tavs un Tev arī vislabāk patīk tāda krāsojuma angļi, bluebelton? :D Ja jau niks krāsas angliskais nosaukums. :D

Man jautājums- vai angļu dažādās krāsas pāro savā starpā?

Manā sarakstā gordoni ir otrajā vietā aiz angļiem :lol:
Jā, man ļoti patīk intensīva krāsojuma angļu seteri. Garets šajā ziņā pārspējis visas manas vēlmes - kad viņš nokļuva mūsu mājās, viņš bija gandrīz pavisam balts, bet augot, viņa krāsa kļuva stipri intensīvāka. Tagad viņu pareizāk būtu saukt par "salni". :roll:
Angļu seterus tieši ļoti būtu vēlams pārot dažādu krāsu, lai nezaudētu krāsas intensitāti. Tā ir šīs šķirnes liela problēma, jo pārojot, piem., lemonbeltonu ar lemonbeltonu var pazaudēt šai šķirnei raksturīgos lāsumus. Suns var kļūt pilnīgi balts, kaut gan tas arī gluži neskaitās šķirnes brāķis, ar noteikumu, ka sunim ir lāsumainas ķepas. Tas pats ir ar "zilajiem" - to krāsa var kļūt ļoti tumša, vienmērīga, pat melna, bez lāsumiem. Tāpēc optimālākais variants ir pārot lemonbeltonu ar bluebeltonu, pie kam kucēni dzimst visdažādākajās krāsās - ari trikolori. :D

Garets ir dzimis Krievijā, audzētavā, kurā nodarbojas ar amerikāņu show tipa angļu seteru audzēšanu. Gareta tuvākie radinieki gan ir no Amerikas un Kanādas audzētavām.

Atradu angļu setera bildīti ar ļoti interesantu krāsojumu-varētu būt šoklādes krāsa

Jā tam interesantajam sunim ir labi izteikta krāsa - pēc standarta būtu liver belton. Diemžēl šokolādes krāsa angļu seteriem nav sastopama. Lielāko ties jau sastopami suņi lemon belton vai orange belton krāsās, tāpēc šis brūnais liekas neredzēts.
Gareta spalva nu tikai sāk ataugt - pagājušovasar viņš saķēra dermatītu un viss krāšņums palika ķemmē. Uz Bratislavas izstādi oktobrī kaut kovēl izdevās saglābt, bet tad es viņu apfrizēju īsu, jo īsu, un tagad aug no jauna. Kopšana regulāra- reizi nedēļā mazgāšana ar šampūnu,muguras trimmēšana, pēc katras pastaigas noskalots vēders un reizi mēnesī ataugušās "kleitas" aplīdzināšana. :labipadarits:

Neapskaužu garspalvaino suņu saimniekus :smarzas: ,tik daudz laika un pūļu tiek ieguldīts spalvas kopšanā.Bet tas ir to vērts :1: :2: :3: un izstādē prieks garantēts.

Tas ir labi, ka Latvijā aug jauna labu angļu seteru paaudze, taču vēl ilgi nevarēsim lepoties ar izciliem angļu seteru kucēniem, kuru vecāki būtu dzimuši un audzēti Latvijā.
