So you want a Great Dane puppy, will you want it all its life
Will it be all-important, like family and wife?
Will you handle it with gentleness and pat it when it’s good
And see its water’s always fresh and that it’s got good food
Will you train it kindly and brush it every day
And provide it with a clean dry bed where it can go and lay
Will you teach the children that they too must be kind?
And if he takes their toys, they really must not mind
Will you train it on a lead, to sit and walk to heel?
Not drag it on a choke chain with all the pain to feel.
Will you teach obedience, to come when its afar
To lay and stay if needed and be good when in the car.
And when it’s learnt these lessons and loves you all so true
Will you thank the day this Great Dane came to live with you.
And when it’s old and feeble and life has passed it by
Your family broken hearted and not an eye is dry.
Will you still be happy, that you bought that puppy Dane?
And will you get another, and start it all again?
If you can answer, YES my friend, to all that I have said
Then you deserve a Great Dane, the best one ever bred.
But if you have read my questions and cannot answer true,
Please don’t have a Great Dane puppy, it’s not fair to him or you!!!

GREAT DANE COLORS

Brindle - The base color shall be yellow gold and always brindled with strong black cross stripes in a chevron pattern. A black mask is preferred. Black should appear on the eye rims and eyebrows, and may appear on the ears and tail tip. The more intensive the base color and the more distinct and even the brindling, the more preferred will be the color. Too much or too little brindling are equally undesirable. White markings at the chest and toes, black-fronted, dirty colored brindles are not desirable.


Fawn - The color shall be yellow gold with a black mask. Black should appear on the eye rims and eyebrows, and may appear on the ears and tail tip. The deep yellow gold must always be given the preference. White markings at the chest and toes, black-fronted dirty colored fawns are not desirable.


Blue - The color shall be a pure steel blue. White markings at the chest and toes are not desirable.


Black - The color shall be a glossy black. White markings at the chest and toes are not desirable.


Harlequin - Base color shall be pure white with black torn patches irregularly and well distributed over the entire body; a pure white neck is preferred. The black patches should never be large enough to give the appearance of a blanket, nor so small as to give a stippled or dappled effect. Eligible, but less desirable, are a few small gray patches, or a white base with single black hairs showing through, which tend to give a salt and pepper or dirty effect. Any variance in color or markings U described above shall be faulted to the extent of the deviation. Any Great Dane which does not fall within the above color classifications must be disqualified.


Mantle - The color shall be black and white with a solid black blanket extending over the body; black skull with white muzzle; white blaze is optional; whole white collar preferred; a white chest; white on part or whole of forelegs and hind legs; white tipped black tail. A small white marking in the black blanket is acceptable, as is a break in the white collar.



Discussion

Faults of color, with the exception of serious deviations, should not be considered as important as faults of structure and type. THE OVERALL QUALITY OF THE DOG IS OF PRIMARY IMPORTANCE. Natural graying of the mask due to age should NOT be penalized; in the Dane, some graying at the front of the muzzle may occur at a relatively early age.

Brindle - The black stripes should be clearly defied and evenly distributed, meeting or nearly meeting at the topline. The acceptable amount of brindling will vary, but very sparse (mostly fawn, with a few isolated areas of striping), or very heavy (to the extent that black appears to be the base coat with fawn striping) are deviations from the Standard and should be penalized according to the extent of the deviation.

Fawn - The rich golden fawn color is correct. Faults include pale, washed out biscuit, sooty and grayish yellow. The black mask will vary in area; preferably it will cover most of the forepart of the muzzle and may extend up past the eyes. Occasionally, a dark shading will appear about halfway up the tail, which is unimportant.

Blue - the steel blue referred to is a deep, rich color. Pale, washed out grayish-blue or brownish tinged blue should be faulted.

Black - To borrow from the English standard, black is black. There should be no tinge of fawn, rust or other color discernible.

Harlequin - A wide range exists as to the amount of markings which may be present; however, dogs with very few patches and dogs so heavily marked that little white area is left are both outside the desired range. When all the markings have rounded, well defined edges (spots) as opposed to the required torn edges, the dog does not fall into the harlequin classification. Harlequins may correctly have black patches on the chest and legs. Although a white neck is preferred, black patches on the neck should not be penalized.

• обычной собачьей игрушки вашей собаке хватает минут на 5 (в лучшем случае)
• почтальон отказывается войти в ваш дом
• ваш пес носит ваши футболки
• ваш пес часто стоит перед кухонным окном, грустно осматривая через него мир.
• у вашей собаки собственная спальня
• вашим детям больше не надо умываться
• вы купили кровать побольше, чтобы вашей собаке было где складывать свои лапы.
• вы смотрите телевизор, сидя на полу, дабы ваша собака могла сидеть на кушетке позади вас, положив свою морду вам на плечё для того, чтобы лучше видеть кино.
• вы говорите собаке "сидеть" и она пятится назад, пока не найдет стул
• для того, чтобы завести вашу собаку к ветеринару, надо минимум 3 человека
• вы гуляете со своей собакой и встречные знают ее по имени, а вы не имеете ни малейшего понятия, кто такие эти встречные
• ваша собака может спрятать теннисный мячик (среди других вещей) у себя в губах и смотреть на вас невинными глазами: "что? я ничего не ем!"
• когда вы покупаете автомобиль, вы обычно предварительно измеряете его длину и ширину
• в каждой комнате вы держите хотя бы одно цветное полотенце, которым, впрочем никто, кроме собаки, не пользуется
• две ваши собаки решили поиграть в комнате - и сбили головами люстру - во второй раз.
• вы пылесосите свою машину и наибольшее количество шерсти находится на потолке.
• вы уже научились натягивать на лицо улыбку, когда вас спрашивают: "а у вас есть седло для этой штуки?"
• булочки, оставленные на холодильнике, к вечеру исчезают оттуда, а у вашей собаки нос в сахарной пудре.
• ваша собака отлично видит, что именно вы готовите на кухне, и часто пытается помогать
• вы купили себе телевизор с большим экраном; тем не менее, когда перед вами стоит ваш пес, этого экрана не видно
• когда вы гуляете с собакой, люди предпочитают перейти на другую стороны улицы
• вы купили диван специально для собак(и)
• ваша собака знает, как открыть дверь в ванную (но она никогда не закрывает ее)
• вы можете вести собаку, держась за ее ошейник
• ваш кот предпочитает кушать, сидя сверху на холодильнике
• ваша собака может нести баскетбольный мяч у себя в пасти
• доберманы и немецкие овчарки кажутся вам небольшими собачками
• вы чистите зубы и вам приходится отодвинуться в сторону, поскольку подошла ваша собака и она хочет пить
• вас оштрафовали за превышение скорости, поскольку лапа вашей собаки была на акселераторе
• гость дает команду вашей собаке: "сидеть". И она мгновенно садится - ему на колени
• вы показываете свою фотографию, где вы стоите рядом с собакой, и вас спрашивают: "вы же тут сидите, правда?"
• вы выгуливаете собаку, и вас спрашивают: "этот далматинец выращивался на стероидах?"
• во время охотничьего сезона вы держитесь подальше от леса, если все же гуляете там, то собака одевает яркооранжевую жилетку.
• когда другие собаки смотрят на вашу, они часто проявляют сконфуженность, поскольку не могут определить на глазок ее видовую принадлежность.
• вы принимаете душ, и вдруг ваша собака присоединяется к вам... чтобы сделать глоток воды
• новая игрушка вашего щенка - 2х-килограммовый мячик для боулинга
• ваша собака выходит из кухни задом
• хранить еду на столе отнюдь не безопасно
• один поцелуй вашей собаки может испортить весь ваш макияж
• через ваше плече читает не ваш супруг, а ваша собака

Sveiki dogu mīļotāji un saimnieki! Man arī piemīt nezūdoša mīlestība uz šiem cēlajiem suņiem. Pašai bijuši 2 dogi (kas šobrīd vairs nav šai saulē). Te dažas bildītes, uz kurām uzdūros vecos albumus pārskatot:

Tā, mazliet nejaukas informācijas.
Nupat ss.lv parādījās sludinājums, ka meklējot suni pārošanai priekš zilas kuces.
Tā kā mūsu nav daudz, pretendente ļoti ātri tika atšifrēta.
Kuce ir ar atzīmi - diskvalifikācija par iedzimtu defektu - lauztu asti. Pēc informācijas, saimniece cer šos kucēnus, ja nu tomēr suns atradīsies, formēt caur kādu no disidentu klubiem.
Ceru, ka pāragri ceļu paniku, bet........

Mani vairak interese vai tagadejos laikos ir pieprasijums pec dogiem? Latvija? Plnas patversmes ar shkirnes suniem. Maza auguma, videja. Kursh TAGAD grib sev dogu ar ne parak labu izcelsmi, un spes to barot un kopt, kas nebus leti...? Lai ta "audzetaja" par to padoma mazliet, vai nebus ta, ka kuceni paliks pie vinas lidz 6 meneshiem, lidz gadam... Uj, ka vinja iekritis
